It’s been 45 years last month since Billy, Dusty and Frank first took to the stage but you would never have known if you were in the audience at the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston last night.
Thanks to Live Nation I was lucky enough to get accredited to go and check out this amazing rock trio, and scratch another artist off my bucket list (which on a side note doesn’t seem to be getting any shorter lol).
From the first notes of “Got Me Under Pressure” to the last note of “Tush” one thing was clear. ZZ Top still knows how to rock. If you’ve never seen ZZ Top perform before, I’ll tell you one thing. Don’t bother going if you’re expecting a lot of story telling and chatting with the audience. If you’re looking for wall to wall rock then that’s exactly what you’ll get. I’ve never performed in a band but I would imagine that if you are going to share the stage with two guys night after night for 45 years and still have fun doing it you did something right.
Last night in Kingston you could tell that these boys still loved to do what they do and have a blast doing it. It came across in the music and the presentation. For a first timer, like me, I sure hope that they don’t stop at 45 years so that we get more chances to see these “Sharp Dressed Men” wearing “Cheap Sunglasses”
Still a few chances for you to catch this tour before they leave Canada.
Tonight they’ll be at the Peterborough Memorial Centre, tomorrow at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton and then later in the month you can catch them at the Bell Centre in Montreal on March 18 followed by Casino Rama on March 19.
