Sunshine and hot temperatures welcomed fans to LeBreton Flatts in Ottawa as RBC Bluesfest kicked off it’s 2023 edition with large crowds for an opening night of country featuring Lindsay Ell and Shania Twain and a night of pure rock and roll featuring Billy Talent and Weezer.

RBC Bluesfest organizers today announced one of their best lineups ever. Featured acts on the mainstage include Shania Twain (July 6); Weezer (July 7); Robert Plant & Alison Krauss (July 8); Death Cab for Cutie (July 9); Foo Fighters (July 12); Mumford & Sons (July 13); Charlotte Cardin (July 14); Pitbull (July 15); and The Smile (July 16).

I don’t know what mother nature has against country music this summer but I’m starting to see a pattern here. Festival Country de Lotbinière, it rained. Country night 1 featuring Eric Church, it rained and delayed the gates by 2 hours nearly threatening the night’s entertainment. In all three cases the show was able to go on and country music fans came out in large numbers to party, country style.
“Dreams Take Flight” Round 2 | Country Dreams
Round Two of The Dreams Take Flight charity event took place at The Lone Star Loft, 1211 Lemieux Street, Ottawa, Ontario with Matt Dips of Country 101.1 Mc’ing another round of Country Music and fun with Bryan Snider opening followed by Kris Barclay and Brea Lawrenson. The goal of this night was to help make dreams come true for some of the region’s most deserving kids by sending them on a once in a lifetime trip to Walt Disney World with Dreams Take Flight.

After a massively successful debut event in 2018, Dreams Take Flight Ottawa is taking out the cowboy boots and plaid shirts once again for Country Dreams Part II taking place at the Lone Star Loft on May 4!
Horton Hoedown announces 2nd annual lineup
Country music has always been strong in the Ottawa Valley but country music festivals, not so much. There have been a few attempts over the years including a personal favourite, Calabogie Country, at which we were first introduced to one of the headliners of the Valley’s newest country music festival, the Horton Hoedown, which announced its second annual lineup today featuring, headliner, Bobby Wills.
Brett Kissel makes triumphant return to Pembroke
We told you that back in February when Brett made his first appearance at Pembroke’s Festival Hall that he promised organizers that he would return to help raise the remaining funds for the playground at Holy Name Catholic School. Last weekend Brett made good on that promise and brought one of his best shows of the year to the PMC as crowds came out to End Summer with A Song.

Rain and thunderstorms threatened, late in the day, to washout the second day of RBC Bluesfest 2017 but by the time the first notes rang out the clouds cleared and the crowds descended on Lebreton Flats.
