Madeline Merlo released her debut album Free Soul, on Friday April 29th. Following her earlier EP release back in 2014, let me tell you, this girl put her heart and soul into this album. From her radio hit “Whatcha Wanna Do About It” and “Honey Jack” to some older hits such as “Sinking like a Stone” and “Alive”.
One track that particularly shined through is tilted “War Paint”. A song about standing by the ones you care for, and helping them get through their battles because you know they’ll stand by you. Merlo stated on her twitter prior to her release it is one of her favourites on the track.
Each track has a different vibe to it, from beautiful ballads to fun, sassy songs that you could dance to. With a nice blend of the two, Madeline created an amazing record. “Ready to say Goodnight” is a collaboration with Tim Hicks, and she just knocks the ball out of the park with this one.
The record is amazing, and I think it’s safe to say, a CCMA is coming her way in the near future.
If you haven’t bought her new album yet you can buy it at your local HMV or CD shop as well as on iTunes.

Madeline has a few summer tour dates this summer, but we can only hope the release of a new record means a few more stops. Lets hope that Ontario gets a few more on the list.
