The long awaited return of the Toronto turned Aussie rockers The Lazys finally came to life on Saturday night at The 27 Club, when Ottawa’s rock radio station Rebel 101.7 and Spectrasonic threw a Halloween party with openers The Standstills and Eagleson.
The venue has claimed its place as a go to venue for a lot of fantastic shows over the past year, and was packed of dressed up audience for the sweaty rock show on the weekend.
Opening the night were the local boys Eagleson, who have been working their asses off this year recording a new album with the Cancer Bats guitarist Scott Middleton. As a result the fans are seeing a harder rocking, hungry band, who are ready to fly out of their nest to conquer the world.
The band’s single, Chasing the Sun, has become pretty much an every day radio hit on the local Rebel radio, and the front man Tom Edward, and bassist Ryan Wolves were clearly enjoying their time on stage more and more.
Oshawa duo The Standstills were visiting Ottawa just this past summer as well when they opened for Sebastian Bach, and are currently touring with the Lazys across Canada.
Consisting of drummer Renee Couture and guitarist Jonathan Fox, the band has quickly climbed up with their big stage presence and huge sound, which often times is difficult to even realize is coming out of just a two piece band.
Toronto rockers The Lazys are always a blast to watch and listen live. Their tunes are playing on constant repeat on Canadian radio stations and the band have been busy touring Canada for the past few months, and well over into November.
The singer Leon Harrison’s mischievous antics did not disappoint this time either, as he performed part of the show wearing an audience member’s viking helmet, and the guitarist Matty Lazy’s roaring guitar solos and energetic performance were just a cherry on top.
We can’t get enough of these guys and can’t wait to have them visit Ottawa again soon!
