All the ideas were put in place and all planning put into motion. On January 15th, 2020 marked the first night at the first venue on “The Good Ones” tour. Its Canada wide and spans 20 shows stopping in 20 cities.
As a young person growing up, the thought of being a singer/songwriter might seem far fetched. Performing and singing your own songs for your own fans is something a person could only dream. Well, for Tebey, that is now his reality. January 31st, Tebey played the 14th show in Waterloo, ON at a very packed Maxwell’s Concert Hall. Bringing along friend and co-country artist Matt Lang, Maxwell’s had a vibe of electricity in the room before any of the performances even started.
As we got into the night, Matt Lang walked onto the stage. The reaction of the fans was enough to show this was going to be a concert to remember. Banging out some of his popular songs, the crowd sang along. Guitar in the air and foot stomping, Matt grabbed the crowd by the horns. The lights, the energy and the groove between his band mates, it was a serious way to open a show. The performance Matt put on at Maxwell’s was like he was headlining his own show. He left nothing to the imagination about who he is as an artist. The whole show was amazing start to finish. When Matt did finish up his part of the show, he gained new fans and some thundering chants from the crowd.
As a headliner of your own tour, its gotta be hard to know what to expect. All eyes are on you. Your name crosses the top of that poster, that ad and that 45 second event promotion on the radio. Every city you see and every show you play would be a completely new experience. We spoke with Tebey about the tour this far and asked him how the feeling was for him personally?
“Being a headliner for the first time has been everything I’ve expected and more” says Tebey. “We’ve seen some amazing crowds across Canada, including several sell outs! The fact that people are spending their hard earned money to watch me play my music, Its pretty amazing”.
The show that people are getting in return for their “hard earned money” is nothing less than brilliant. Tebey played the night away with all his hit songs and the volume on 10. With his amazing group of band members backing him, they completely owned the night. Earlier in the day, female country singer Genevieve Fisher took to a Facebook post saying
“Surprise! Tonight I will be joining Tebey on stage to sing “The Good Ones”. See you tonight Waterloo.
Later in the night, Genevieve took the stage, the two join forces and performed the new single and together, found amazing chemistry and absolutely nailed the song as a duo.
The country world is filled with amazing artists who are truly making a name for themselves. Honestly, if you didn’t have any idea, you would have never known Tebey was a first time headliner. This tour speaks to his ability, his musical talent and where he is headed. When we spoke with Tebey he added,
“It’s been really cool to see all of my hard work leading up until this moment pay off”.
Tebey was most likely just like the rest of us. A thought and a dream as a child to one day be performing. Now, 14 shows deep into his very own headlining tour, it’s clear that this guy was born to perform….
