Almost like they’ve been watching back-to-back hockey games, the 4 piece, Toronto-based, the all-girl band The Beaches set up shop for a doubleheader at Edmonton’s Midway in support of their 2021 EP: “Future Lovers”.
I was there to photograph their first show of two.
Decked out in red, yellow, green, and blue outfits, their energy levels matched the vibrancy of their clothing. As they walked on stage, the Beaches were met with cheers from the whole room. Opening their set with “Late Show”, the band exploded into a frenzy of singing and dancing.
In between songs, they said how grateful it was to be back in Edmonton (and tour Canada) as Covid-19 caused them to reschedule their tour a handful of times. I know I can say I am thankful shows are back!
The next song they sang was “Bad Behaviour” from their “Future Lovers” EP. This song took the show to another level; The Beaches launched into their next song: “Snake Tongue”. This was a bass-heavy groove and even had me vibing along as I was shooting.
The setlist is as follows:
- Late Show
- Bad Behaviour
- Snake Tongue

Opening for The Beaches were The Blue Stones, a Windsor, Ontario duo. They rocked hard for just a guitarist/vocalist and a drummer. They set the tone for the evening and got the crowd warmed up for the headline act.
