Toronto’s rocker sweethearts The Beaches are currently on their national tour, starting in Vancouver late April, and stopped by at The 27 Club in Ottawa with the opener Taylor Knox on Friday night.
The venue was packed all the way to the entrance with excited fans to see the four woman ensemble, who have been tossed into a whirlwind success with their debut full length album, Late Show, and have acquired regular radio play with its catchy hits Money and T-Shirt.
The band clearly enjoyed every moment on being on stage and got the audience so pumped that we even saw some crowd surfing throughout the show.
Before breaking into their megahit Money, keyboardist Leandra Earl joked about the song being about needing to make some money to buy some beers here and there instead of getting rich.
The band has come a long way since their last show at the 27 Club, which at that point was still Zaphod Beeblebrox, and the audience then consisted of ten people who were mainly the band’s cousins and the bartender.
While the crazy winds were almost blowing the roof off of some of Ottawa’s buildings outside, The Beaches blew off the roof of the 27 Club.
The band has all the potential to become the one of the biggest Canadian music exports, and we can wait to witness it!
