TITLE AT 2019 CCMA AWARDS PRESENTED BY TD
Calgary, AB (September 8, 2019) – The CCMA Awards’ return to Calgary was well worth the wait as earlier this evening, the stage at Calgary’s iconic Scotiabank Saddledome arena was brought to life with the show’s biggest line-up of Canadian and international talent to date.
Celebrating the best in country music, the 2019 CCMA Awards presented by TD saw hosts — and now officially best friends — Dallas Smith and Billy Ray Cyrus at the helm of an evening that saw awards given out for Entertainer of the Year, Ford Album of the Year, Apple Music Fans’ Choice Award, Female Artist of the Year, Group or Duo of the Year, MNP Male Artist of the Year, Rising Star and Single of the Year.
Tenille Townes and show co-host Dallas Smith led the pack with multiple wins. Townes went home with her first-ever CCMA Awards this Country Music Week, taking both Single of the Year and Female Artist of the Year during tonight’s broadcast, adding to her earlier wins in the Anthem Entertainment Songwriter(s) of the Year and Video of the Year categories, for a total of four overall wins. Smith returned as the MNP Male Artist of the Year and also took home the coveted Entertainer of the Year, which returned to the CCMA Awards broadcast following a 30-year hiatus.
Show-stopping performances by Old Dominion and Tim Hicks had fans on their feet all night while never-before-seen collaborations from High Valley & Lindsay Ell and country sweethearts Meghan Patrick & Mitchell Tenpenny created unforgettable moments for all in attendance. Ford Album of the Year winners The Reklaws’ mashup performance of “Feels Like That” and “Country Roads” had fans cheering so loudly they could be heard all the way back in Toronto. Additional highlights included the show’s opening number, which saw Dallas Smith’s #1 hit single “Drop” flow into a collaboration performance of “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus and Terri Clark and international PLATINUM-selling Morgan Wallen’s debut performance of his chart-topping hit “Whiskey Glasses” on the CCMA Awards stage.
