Alberta native and top 10 Country artist, Wes Mack has released his new single House On Fire on Friday (via iTunes and Spotify). Produced by Jordan Orbek and co-written by Donny Anderson and Murray Daigle House On Fire combines Mack’s memorable vocals with an infectious, upbeat chorus coupled with his signature pop / country twang. The single hits Canadian Country radio in January and is accompanied by a new (self directed) music video (Mack has received multiple CCMA nominations for Video Director of the Year).
2017 Country Music Year in Review
It seems like just yesterday we were counting down from 2016 to 2017, it’s amazing how time flies when you’re having fun. 2017 also known as Canada 150 came with its share of highlights from the JUNOs to the Grey Cup and plenty of amazing milestones in between. Here’s a look back at the year that was and the year, we predict, lies ahead in 2018.
CCMA Awards – John Deere Green Carpet
Well after spending 3 days hunkered down in what might be the best city in Canada for Country Music we have a little something to share. We have the 2nd of our CCMA posts with some great shots of the John Deere Green Carpet. This was our first year having a presence on the carpet with Corey getting a chance to chat with the artists as they walked in. Be sure to check our video of Corey chatting with everyone HERE. However, Bill and James were also able to grab some amazing images of the artists making there way into Bud Gardens in London, Ontario.
CCMA Awards – Kick Off Concert
On Sunday afternoon before some of Canada’s most talented Country Musicians walked the John Deere Green Carpet the folks at the Canadian Country Music Association thought they would throw a little party. With performances from The Lovelocks, Lindsay Ell, Wes Mack, River Town Saints, The Washboard Union and Bobby Wills.

#Country4FortMac
Sometimes the stars align and things just seem to be perfect and nothing can knock that feeling away. Well last Thursday night in Toronto all the country stars you could think of showed up and played one of the best venues in the city in support of the relief efforts for Fort McMurray. It was honestly one of the coolest and intimate experiences I have had in a long time. Along with raising just over $17,000 for the cause. #Country4FortMac
A very proud moment, and a disappointment #MondayMusings
Sometimes I just need to sit back and recall that just 6 summers ago I started Sound Check Entertainment, almost by accident. The traction it received from festivals and events across Ottawa and Ontario almost immediately was mind blowing but nothing compares to the feeling this week as we stage a massive benefit for Fort McMurray in Toronto on Thursday called “Bright Lights, Big Country”.
Fort McMurray Benefit Concert
Wow..
So over the last couple weeks we have been working hand in hand with some of Canada’s leading music industry personel to put together one heck of a night in Toronto in support of the families in Fort McMurray that have lost everything. Here are the details on what is sure to be a night to remember.
Country Music Week in Pictures
So we have a few folks out in Halifax covering Country Music Week. We have our first load of pictures to post. Here is the first batch from the Kitchen Party on Friday Night. It was a rockin’ night that people on the East Coast won’t soon forget! `
Wes Mack at the Rock’n’ Horse Saloon
One of my favourite perks of writing for a music blog is the opportunity to attend shows like this one. The Rock’n’ Horse Saloon is a small, up close and intimate environment nestled in Toronto’s entertainment district. It was the perfect spot for Wes Mack‘s Edge of the Storm CD Release Party.
