As we say farewell to another year we thought it would be fun to look back at 20 (in no particular order) of our favourite moments, in pictures, from across Canada.
We Day Ottawa
12000 students from around Ottawa, and as far as St John’s NFLD gathered at the Canadian Tire Centre this past Wednesday for a spectacle of inspiration for change at We Day Ottawa 2017. All ages from elementary school to high school gathered to hear notable speakers like Former Secretary General of the United Nations and the Downie-Wenjack Families. Discussing a variety of issues from indigenous rights in Canada, to Canada’s impact overseas, to the ability for an individual to make a difference through organ donation or volunteering with food banks.
Ottawa, the city that fun forgot…NOT!
A common saying you’ll hear frequently when living in Ottawa is that it is the city that fun forgot. I’d like to make a case for the exact opposite and all you have to do is take a look at the summer festival season.
WE Day in Ottawa
For those that don’t know, WE Day is “a celebration of youth making a difference in their local and global communities”. Youth who have participated in ‘WE’ events or activities can earn their way in as a reward for their accomplishments over the course of the past year. Both in their own communities, and as part of global initiatives.
