Anticipation ran high in Canada’s Capital since it was announced that the best selling solo artist in US history, Garth Brooks, would be making his return to the city for the first time in 19 years this past January. The wait came to an end on Friday as thousands of fans descended on the Canadian Tire Centre for the first of 4 shows.

Unless you count his appearance at the Calgary Stampede in 2012 it’s been 19 long years since Garth Brooks performed on Canadian soil. Hamilton was the first stop to be announced back on the 6th of January and when tickets went on sale a few weeks later there was no question that he would be welcomed back with open arms.
