It may have been unseasonably chilly outside but things warmed up quickly inside as the Gen Z and Millennial ladies of Ottawa flocked to the Bronson Centre Wednesday night. The draw was a sold out show (the first of two) by music producer and DJ James Kennedy, a fan favourite cast member of the popular Bravo reality series Vanderpump Rules.
Jonathan Roy…it’s Nice to Meet You Too
The North American leg of Jonathan Roy’s Nice to Meet You Tour culminated in the capital this weekend, and fans crowded Ottawa’s Bronson Centre on Friday night to take in the catchy, contemplative sounds of the Montreal-born alt pop artist.

Silver Beams Gold as Moist Brings Canadian Alt. Rock Classic to Bronson Centre
Before we sling some Silver with David Usher and the Moist boys (a band name I’d bet an unencumbered ride on the LRT was only bypassed for the shorter Moist due to it fitting better on album covers), I gotta’ give props to the new digs over at the Bronson Centre. If you haven’t been to the former 1920s nun run school turned office space turned one O-town’s hidden gems of concert hubs, you owe yourself a visit. Heck, even the Wikipedia page will throw you as it mentions seats! Renos have removed those, opened up the floor space, added a few bars and turned it into a full-fledged zone to get your 90s alt rock on!
Carly Rae Jepsen Brings Emotion and Dedication to the Capital
The newly-renovated Bronson Centre really feels like a concert venue now, and not the high school auditorium it once was. The curved hanging speakers look nice, and the dark standing-room floors (the floor seats are gone!) draw attention to the stage. I can report that the sound system was just right: not too loud, not too quiet.
Carly Rae Jepsen’s fans, on the other hand, were much louder.
The Beaches show Ottawa the Money.
The Saturday night at the packed Ottawa’s Bronson Centre was sizzling with anticipation as the female rocker sensation The Beaches were at attendance, and had brought along equally brilliant opener, also Toronto based Goodbye Honolulu.
Yukon Blonde and The Zolas warm up the Bronson Centre.
Winter seems to set in early this year but that didn’t stop people from heading to Ottawa’s Bronson Centre Saturday night to see Vancouver’s Yukon Blonde and The Zolas, who are currently on a co-headlining tour across Canada with a few select American dates.
