With another year of Juno’s in the history books the thought occurred to me last night that, well for one, Canadian Country Music is not very well represented at the awards that are supposed to represent the best of Canada and, for two, Canadian Country is all but absent on the international scene, or at least south of the border.

Shania Twain returns home, and proves she’s still the one!
It may have been over a decade since the reigning Queen of Canadian Country music has hit the road for a full tour but it definitely didn’t show. Coming off of a 2 year run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas Shania kicked off her first tour earlier this month in Seattle, WA.
We talk Summer Tour & New EP with Wes Mack
We had a chance to catch up with Wes Mack last week before he kicked off the Canadian leg of the Shania Twain Lets Rock This Country Tour. The first night of the tour was June 6th in Seattle Washington and then carries across Canada for 14 dates and Wes is along for the ride. Let’s just say he might be a little excited.
Hangin’ with Canaan Smith
I had the chance to sit down with Canaan Smith while he was in town last month with Dan & Shay. For those not familiar with Canaan, which I am sure it ain’t many. Coming up in spring 2015
To say that 2015 has started with a bang is a major understatement. It took the independent Sound Check over a year to hit 100,000 readers and we hit 200,000 in just the first month and a half of 2015.
Our top stories of Q1 2015 included breaking the news of Luke Bryan in Ottawa and the 2015 Ottawa Bluesfest line-up as well as our coast to coast coverage of Dallas Smith’s Tippin’ Point Tour and Chad Brownlee’s When the Lights Go Down tour not to mention our unprecedented concert coverage from New Country 94’s welcome to Ottawa party with Dallas Smith to Florida Georgia Line and ZZ Top in Kingston. All of this and only in the first 3 months of 2015.
Here’s a look at what’s ahead from April to June 2015
