OTTAWA, ON – Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench have announced their second headlining tour in Canada this year, “Marianas Trench and the Last Crusade,”which kicks off on November 1st in Prince George, BC at CN Centre. VIP tickets will be available on Wednesday, September 7th at 10am local time. General admission tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday, September 9th at 10am local time. Four days of incredible music with world class headliners and a rising group out of the Ottawa area stole the final day of Boots and Hearts with an incredibly high energy, Main Stage worthy, show on the Front Porch Stage on Sunday afternoon.

After 8 amazing days of music, Sunday was the grand finale of one of the biggest years for RBC Bluesfest in its 22 year history. 

It’s hard to believe we’re already coming to an end of the 2016 edition of RBC Bluesfest. It feels like just yesterday that the lineup was announced and yet here we are going into the final day!

Last night a few thousand dancers came dancing to Lebreton Flats, RBC Bluesfest had been away for so long, so long, but it was a nice day to start again!

I’ll be completely honest that most years when our friends at Ottawa Dragon Boat announce their headliners, or their opening acts for that matter, I have little to no idea who they are. Aside from a few acts carried over from last summer’s RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest (Mother Mother, The Beaches and Alvvays) the same stood true this year.

For the 3^rd year in a row, Jason Blaine, hit a home run (wrong sport… hole in one?) with his annual Celebrity Classic Charity Golf Tournament. This year’s installment, held in his hometown of Pembroke, raised over $80,000 for local charities including Algonquin College, The Boys and Girls Club, and The Salvation Army. 

It’s hard to believe that it’s really only been 5 years since I first put pen to paper (so to speak) to write the first ever post for Sound Check Entertainment. Back then it was called the Hoedown Blogger and the platform was under the banner of the Ottawa Citizen but had it not been for that day none of what followed would be possible.

Ottawa’s annual CityFolk Festival is back with a powerhouse lineup that will see it return to Lansdowne Park this September 15 to 18.

So Gord Bamford brought his buddy Joe Nichols & Autumn Hill along for the ride on the Country Certified tour that landed at Algonquin College this past Monday night.   Our Sean Sisk was there to capture the show.  Here is his Photo Review of the event.
