It’s that time of year again, some of Ottawa’s biggest summer events are announcing their 2016 lineups. First out of the gate is the 23rd Annual Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival who, this morning, announced their incredible lineup of entertainment on the Hillside Amphitheatre stage.
At the end of last year I looked ahead to 2015 and made a bold prediction that it would be bigger with more interviews with bigger artists, more festivals, more events and more contests. I could never have predicted exactly how much bigger the year would actually be.
Johnny Reid has had a busy summer appearing at numerous summer festivals across the country including North Bay Summer in the Park and Ottawa Bluesfest. We recently had a chance to catch up with Johnny before his performance at Manitoulin Country Fest.
Dear Rouge is one of the hottest acts in Canada, and today they release the official music video for “Tongues”. We were lucky enough to be on-set for the filming of this video this past June in Toronto at The Opera House. If you missed Drew and Danielle at Ottawa Bluesfest or WayHome this summer we’ve learned that there will be a big tour announcement this Thursday, so stay tuned we’ll have all the details here! After an incredible start to this year’s Ottawa Bluesfest the second week was the week that had more of the music I was interested loaded so it was no doubt one I would be looking forward to covering. Initial plans were that I would be finished my shifts with the Green Team by this point as well but health issues in the first week forced me to pick up some shifts in the second week.
It was February 2015 and my step son called me asking if there was any way I could try and get him or win him tickets to see a band called Dear Rouge at the Ritual Nightclub the following month. The show was a win your way in promotion being put on by the folks at Live 88.5. At the time I had not heard of Dear Rouge so I decided I’d check them out, from the first song I listened to I was instantly a fan and knew I had to interview them to get to know them and the story behind their music a bit better.
RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest She’s the One
The annual RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest she’s the one competition was held yesterday afternoon and we have just learned that Stittsville’s Grace Lachance has been crowned “The One”.
Twas the night before Bluesfest and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse. The grounds are all ready, the stages are set in hopes that the music will soon be here. The fans are nestled all snug in their beds; While visions of music and lights danced in their heads. It all kicks off tomorrow afternoon and here are my picks for week #1!
148 years ago today one of the greatest nations in the world was born, Canada. On this special day we’d like to salute our home and native land and highlight just some of the reasons that make us proud to be Canadian!
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of The Edges of Twilight, The Tea Party have announced the release of a deluxe remastered CD, remastered LP, and a North American tour. It has been 20 years since the group released the iconic album featuring such singles as Sister Awake and The Bazaar. The band will kick off the tour in Windsor, ON, on September 4th for two HOMETOWN SHOWS at the Olde Walkerville Theatre. The tour will stop all across Canada, and fans can look forward to seeing the band perform the album in its entirety. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 26th and the remastered album will be released on September 4th with Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.
