As the sun started to set, the black curtain was pulled down and the boys were back, less than 2 years away from their last Bluesfest, Boston’s Dropkick Murphys hit the stage. They brought a whole lot of energy, just guessing, but the next few days may not have the same energy or security at the front of the stage for that matter.

OTTAWA, ON – Multi-Platinum selling progressive pop band Marianas Trench have announced their second headlining tour in Canada this year, “Marianas Trench and the Last Crusade,”which kicks off on November 1st in Prince George, BC at CN Centre. VIP tickets will be available on Wednesday, September 7th at 10am local time. General admission tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday, September 9th at 10am local time. Eric Church announced the dates on his 2017 tour this morning! His North American 60+ city run, the aptly titled Holdin’ My Own Tour, will officially launch on Jan. 13, 2017 at Lincoln, Nebraska’s Pinnacle Bank Arena and will conclude with two nights at Nashville, Tennessee’s Bridgestone Arena in May. For the first time ever, there will be no support act on this tour. Eric and the ECB will play two full sets of music with an intermission in between.

DISTURBED will hit the road again this Fall with a North American tour featuring special guests Chevelle and Nothing More.  Produced by Live Nation, the tour will kick off their tour on September 23, 2016 at The Joint in Las Vegas, Nev. and will stop in cities throughout North America including Atlantic City, Austin, El Paso and more.  A full list of cities is below. So it has been a red hot summer thus far in terms of Festivals we have covered since June 1st.  Not just hot shows but the weather has been smokin’ for most of them.   I though I might take a shot at a mid summer festival recap and just do a quick review on where we have been so far in this jam filled summer of 2016.

After delaying, postponing, and telling Soundcheck that I was too busy, in all truth it was sorta fun. Here it is, a couple of my must sees at this year’s RBC Bluesfest.
As someone who grew up in the ’90s, my first 2 are definitely The Cult and of course the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

For the 3^rd year in a row, Jason Blaine, hit a home run (wrong sport… hole in one?) with his annual Celebrity Classic Charity Golf Tournament. This year’s installment, held in his hometown of Pembroke, raised over $80,000 for local charities including Algonquin College, The Boys and Girls Club, and The Salvation Army. 

On a mild night in Ottawa, a capacity crowd in Ottawa danced away from our beloved Canadian Tire Centre with sore throats and their monies worth.

So Gord Bamford brought his buddy Joe Nichols & Autumn Hill along for the ride on the Country Certified tour that landed at Algonquin College this past Monday night.   Our Sean Sisk was there to capture the show.  Here is his Photo Review of the event.
