The Harlem Globetrotters came through Ottawa again on their 2017 World Tour on Friday night and brought along their newest addition, Kentucky native Briana “Hoops” Green, who is only the 15th female player ever to wear the Globetrotters uniform within the team’s 91 year long history.

It’s 2017, Canada is 150, the JUNO Awards are in Ottawa for only the 3rd time ever, and it’s an amazing year to be a woman in music. Tonight 8 awards were handed out at Canadian Tire Centre out which 4 were given to women and the rest to either the Tragically Hip / Gord Downie, Leonard Cohen or Shawn Mendes.

The Lumineers graced Ottawa with their presence for the second time within a year promoting their latest album Cleopatra, this time in freezing cold March weather compared to last summer’s rainy and sweaty Bluesfest show, and brought along two fantastic bands to open with.

Joey Landreth grew up in a musical home and first started touring at 16. Joey started a band The Bros. Landreth with his brother in 2013, which landed them a Juno for best “Roots & Traditional Album of the Year” for their album Let it Lie, Joey is definitely no stranger to the music world. In fact, in 2016 he decided to go solo and create the album Whiskey and Toronto was lucky enough to have him rocking The Dakota Tavern to a sold out crowd.

Joel and Bill Plaskett rolled into the NAC in Ottawa this past Saturday for their third stop on their tour for Solidarity, the latest release in Plaskett’s catalog. Even a broken-down van didn’t slow down this crew as they launched into their hour-and-forty-minute show after Mayhemingways from Peterborough, Ontario, opened the night with thirty minutes of 2-piece-band glory, displaying a full spectrum of grooves and moods.
