What singer-songwriter Amanda Rheaume was trying to convey in her 5th release is all there in the title. The Skin I’m In finds the musician in that kind of comfort zone we all aspire to cradle ourselves within, that warm place where you’re just peachy being you.

Patrick Watson Orchestrates a Moving Performance
Patrick Watson performed, for a packed crowd, along-side the NAC orchestra for their new SESSIONS series. We were lucky enough to be present for this highly anticipated show that took place in a sold out Southam Hall. The next stop for this talented band is back to their native Quebec, where they finish off their current tour.
NAC Orchestra and Johnny Reid deliver Christmas Magic in Southam Hall
It’s beginning to look a lot like…well anything but Christmas outside. The weather outside was frightful but looking anything like Christmas as heavy rain and warm temperatures have washed away what was left of the snow. But inside the walls of the National Arts Centre the Christmas Spirit was alive and well and on Friday night the NAC Orchestra was joined by our friend Johnny Reid for a night of Christmas Music, stories and laughter.
Christmas at the NAC with Matt Andersen
Matt Andersen brought his signature guitar playing to the National Arts Centre for some Christmas music on Thursday, along with mandolin, bass, piano, and appearances by Donovan Woods and Suzie Vinnick.
Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy’s Celtic Family Christmas Gets Toes Tappin’ at the NAC!
The recent renos of the National Arts Centre’s Southam Hall may not have included a pantry, dining table and oven but they weren’t needed for Natalie MacMaster, Donnell Leahy and their all singin’, all fiddlin’, all dancin’ offspring to turn the place into the biggest kitchen party this side of Cape Breton!
Stars Shine Bright in the Capital
Stepping off Elgin St. and into the National Arts Centre on a mild December eve, there was something in the air as Stars and opener My Brightest Diamond were set to perform in the striking Southam Hall. As you enter the cavernous amphitheater, a sense of wonder overtakes you when it’s true grandness comes into focus. With the sold out crowd settled into their seats, the powerful vocals and electro-opera sound of My Brightest Diamond started to fill the venue. Appropriately named Shara Nova, the voice and main performer of MBD, shone brightly with her stage presence and rhythmic energy.
A Tribe Called Red Deliver in Ottawa
The National Arts Centre theatre is a really intimate place to see a concert. Smaller then the standard auditorium, there isn’t a bad seat in the entire house.
Hark, Ontario’s Angels Sing! A Holiday Tradition Returns to the NAC with a Good Lovelies Christmas
For Sue Passmore, the holiday season just isn’t complete without one particular top of the list item. It’s not a nutmeg topped glass of eggnog nor is it placing a shimmering star on the peak of a pine. It isn’t even a visit from that right jolly old elf that shakes when he laughs like a bowl full of jelly.
