My mother had quite the collection of vinyl records and there was always a variety of music playing at our house ever since I was a baby, anywhere from blues to jazz to classical, from rocknroll to punk to folk music.

The Ottawa weather hasn’t really been spoiling the Jazz Fest crowd this year, having had thunder, lightning and pouring rain almost every night, but even tonight some faithful festival goers brought out their lawn chairs and party hats and headed to the City Hall’s Tartan Home Stage and Confederation Park’s TekSavvy Main Stage for some live music.

CKY, The Wild! and more rock the Babylon
Monday nights in Ottawa are not necessarily the most successful nights for live shows, but this past Monday was clearly an exception. The Diamond Mine Agency had brought a five band set to the jam packed Babylon, with the American rock band CKY as its headliner, Kelowna’s The Wild!, Toronto’s Old James and two opening acts from Ottawa.

Kelowna rockers The Wild! have just released their second album Wild At Heart in February, and are heading out on a two month long tour this summer. The tour consist of ten Canadian dates with Pennsylvania band CKY as well as 27 shows across the U.S. with the heavy metal super group Adrenaline Mob.
1000 Islands Regatta announces All-Star 2017 Entertainment Lineup
For the last 10 years the 1000 Islands Regatta has been a staple event along the shores of the St. Lawrence River in Brockville. Each year organizers take it up just one more notch when it comes to their entertainment and after last year’s success with Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell organizers promised that 2017 would be even better to celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday and today it was announced that they kept their promise!

Big Wreck shows the Iconic Barrymore’s they still know how to rock a crowd
It’s a difficult task, getting a crowd out on a Monday night in Ottawa. Especially when it’s a freezing rain kind of night. As I arrived at Barrymore’s on an especially miserable winter evening, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Ottawa was pumped and ready to party on a school night.
