So the folks down at Peller Estate Winery played host to a little Shindig a couple Saturday night’s back and we managed to get ourselves into such a great event. We want to thank Jason Blaine and his team for having us in to cover the event and a big thanks to Patrice Whiffen and her team for putting it on. Here are some of the images from the night a fantastic night at the Estates.
Day Two at 2015 Manitoulin Countryfest
Manitoulin Countryfest is situated five minutes from the village of Little Current which is accessible via the swing bridge, the one we passed on the Songwriters Cruise at noon, south of Espanola and southwest of Sudbury. Therefore, all the necessities of life, including several good restaurants, are readily available. We chose Chinese food to fortify us for a return to the Countryfest site for Day Two’s shows which started at 6pm.
Day One of 2015 Manitoulin Country Fest
Day One of Manitoulin Country Fest is a wrap…perfect weather, a larger than ever crowd, great food vendors, and, oh yes what we came for, PHENOMENAL COUNTRY MUSIC!!!!! The one thing we don’t have is high speed internet connection in our motel. A photo journal by Anita Bell and our interview with Johnny Reid will be posted early next week.
Manitoulin Country Fest hosting some of country’s biggest names!
We’ve been having a lot of discussion about Boots and Hearts over the past few weeks but there’s another country music festival happening in Ontario this weekend and Sound Check’s Mary-Rae Knapp will be on-site all weekend along with Anita James Bell who will be helping us out on the photography side of things. The festival is Manitoulin Country Fest and starting this Thursday it will play host to some of the biggest names in Canadian Country Music.
Powerhouse performances cap incredible weekend at Spencerville Stampede!
The sun had returned and the stands were packed for the third and final day of the rodeo by the time I arrived at the grounds for the closing day of the 4th annual Spencerville Stampede. Out of all three days of music we had assembled for the weekend Sunday’s lineup was my favourite as it was a fresh lineup for me.
Rain doesn’t dampen spirits at Spencerville Stampede
It was a great start to the day with the first full day of Ram Rodeo action in the rodeo ring. The stands were full and everyone had a blast. Weather was moving in for the evening but it didn’t seem to deter the fans that were busy streaming into the venue to get a spot close to the stage.
Tim Hicks brings the party back to Spencerville
It was the fall of 2014 we were approached by the folks at the Spencerville Stampede asking if we’d be interested in working with them on their 2015 entertainment lineup. Going into their 4th year this year the Stampede had always had a musical component but they wanted to raise the ante and bring some higher profile entertainment to the event.
Leah Daniels, a Famous Live Band and Fireworks…Canada Day in Barrhaven
The day started on a soggy note but us Canadians aren’t afraid of a little rain which didn’t deter thousands from attending a Canada Day celebration somewhere in the country. Our choice, as a family, this year was Mattamy Homes Canada Day in Barrhaven in our former hometown of Barrhaven, Ontario (a suburb of Ottawa).
Sound of Music Festival – Wrap Up
Yesterday was the final day to catch some free music in Burlington, Ontario as the 37th annual Sound of Music Festival wrapped up with Canadian rock legends Loverboy. My family and I have been attending SOMF for the past 5 years and LOVE bringing the family down to enjoy the weekend. As a family we have made it a point to try to make it every year. This year however I was flying solo and had a chance to spend a couple of days at the event and I have to say I couldn’t be happier with the time spent. This is one of those festivals that is so diverse in music it has something for everyone. With so many fantastic artists on the stage this weekend here is what we were able to cover.
Ontario Country Shines @ CMAO Awards
This past Monday night we were in Markham taking in one of Canada’s most celebrated Country Music nights. The 3rd annual CMAO Awards took place in Markham, Ontario. For those of you who haven’t been lucky enough to secure tickets to this outstanding event I would have to suggest buy early next year. This year’s line up was over the top with the likes of Tim Hicks, Autumn Hill, Deric Ruttan, Small Town Pistols and Jason Blaine to name a few.
