Fourteen years ago, Jones Entertainment Group had a vision to create something London had never seen before, something special for London and surrounding area residents to feel at home at. They called this “Rock the Park”. Rock the Park was a brand new music festival in the heart of downtown London in Harris Park, with the beautiful Thames River running alongside.
After 15 years American Idol goes out with a whimper rather than a bang!
Love it or hate it American Idol changed the way we watched TV. Starting with the low budget season that crowned superstar Kelly Clarkson to the final season that saw Trent Harmon take the final title over judge and fan favourite La’Porsha Rene millions of Americans, and Canadians tuned in week after week to cheer for their favourite. But what should’ve been the biggest season in 15 years was one that, for me anyway, seemed to struggle out of the gate to get started.
Lady Antebellum, Hunter Hayes and Sam Hunt at The Molson Canadian Amphitheatre
It’s been a while since I’ve been a “regular” concert goer. But last night that’s exactly what I was. Standing in line, crowded in with lawn seat crowd I was still a happy camper.
Sam Hunt was on stage when I took my “seat”. He played all of my favourites from “Montevello”. No surprises here but definitely no complaints. Nice banter with the crowd.
Corey’s Summer Picks…
So, the summer concert schedule is upon us and let me tell you if you LOVE live music you are going to really enjoy this summer. I have put together a list of MUST SEE but heck, I only say they are must see because well I think they are pretty damn talented individuals as well. I know we can’t hit them all. But we know I am going to do my best 😉
Coming up in spring 2015
To say that 2015 has started with a bang is a major understatement. It took the independent Sound Check over a year to hit 100,000 readers and we hit 200,000 in just the first month and a half of 2015.
Our top stories of Q1 2015 included breaking the news of Luke Bryan in Ottawa and the 2015 Ottawa Bluesfest line-up as well as our coast to coast coverage of Dallas Smith’s Tippin’ Point Tour and Chad Brownlee’s When the Lights Go Down tour not to mention our unprecedented concert coverage from New Country 94’s welcome to Ottawa party with Dallas Smith to Florida Georgia Line and ZZ Top in Kingston. All of this and only in the first 3 months of 2015.
Here’s a look at what’s ahead from April to June 2015
