Recently, Kingston’s own Sarah Harmer and her band brought the show home. Sarah had just released her sixth album, Are You Gone, when the world shut down and is just now able to tour with her new music. Sarah is also working with a new band with Kelly McMichael on keyboards and vocals, Dani Nash on Drums and vocals, Zach Bines on Bass and Gord Tough on Guitar.

It’s been just over two years since the pandemic silenced live music in Ottawa venues and slowly this week fans trickled back as the curtain lifted on the first country tour to pass through the nation’s capital with Meghan Patrick’s Wild as Me Tour featuring Kris Barclay

Alan Doyle has come a long way from his roots in Petty Harbour, playing in bars on Water Street in St Johns, Newfoundland. Most of us first saw Alan as a member of popular Celtic Rock band Great Big Sea where he played for 20 years before they called it a day. He transitioned from Great Big Sea to his own solo career and now tours with his band The Beautiful Beautiful Band.

March 28th, Jim Cuddy brought his band to the Grand Theatre in Kingston on their Constellation Tour. We know Jim as one of the founding members and creative forces behind Blue Rodeo, but he doesn’t sit idle between Blue Rodeo projects. Jim’s style of storytelling in his music makes him one of Canada’s best known songwriters. Constellation is Jim’s fourth solo album and many of the songs were introduced early in the concert. The title track is about a friend of Jim’s who passed away recently. It deals with some of the more sobering aspects of life, such as our own mortality.
It’s time to start planning to have a few great nights out in 2015 and 2016. Jose Feliciano, Howie Mandel, a tribute to Genesis and the Big Bad Wolf are just a few of the acts coming to the Grand Theatre this season. This year, the Grand will again presents a full roster of dance, theatre, comedy, live music, musical tributes, special event s and kids programming for Kingston to enjoy.
