When it comes to Canadian classic rock one of the bands that must come to mind is the Northern Pikes and this summer they’re hitting the road.
Northern Pikes taking “Big Blue Sky” Across Canada, again!
On June 2, 1987 Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Jay Semko, Don Schmid and Bryan Potvin, aka The Northern Pikes, would release an album that would forever make The Northern Pikes a household name across Canada and the single “Teenland” would become an anthem for a generation. This fall Jay, Bryan and Don are taking Big Blue Sky on the road across Canada starting October 12 in St John, NB.
The Northern Pikes bring Renfrew back to Teenland
Growing up in small town Northern Ontario when a concert came to town it usually meant a cover band or a performance by a local band playing someone else’s songs. A rare exception to that rule was this one time when The Northern Pikes rolled into town, I figure I had to have been around 17 or 18 at the time and the show, to this day, was one of my favourite concerts growing up. Fast forward about 25 years to 2017 and the scene would repeat on a damp Saturday night in Renfrew, Ontario.
