Canadian Music Week (CMW), presented by Amsterdam Brewery, now in its 37thyear, is Canada’s longest running, largest showcase and conference festival. Taking place May 6-12 across downtown Toronto, the venue centric festival will host both local and international acts over the week kicking off with 70’s rock band Television at The Phoenix. In addition festival event favourites return with the iHeartRadio Fan Fest featuring Marshmello and Neon Dreams (May 8), and The Indies presented by Indie 88 and Jim Beam featuring the Born Ruffians, LA FORCE and The Elwins (May 11). Previously announced acts include The Dandy Warhols, Tokyo Police Club, Azealia Banks, Black Mountain, The King Khan and BBQ Show, The Dirty Nil, Sunflower Bean and more. The Country Music Association has announced the nominees for the 2019 CMA International Awards, which honors industry executives and artists who have supported and made a difference to the growth and promotion of Country Music in the International market place. Nominees from Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States are recognized in five categories acknowledging their dedication and efforts in growing opportunities for Country Music in their local territories.

After some logistical challenges, I arrived late to Burl’s Creek Event Grounds. I had been looking forward to checking out sets by Madeline Merlo, James Barker Band, and Rivertown Saints, but that wasn’t in the cards. I did, however, arrive just in time to catch the night’s headliners.
Church on Sunday: SunFest Day 4
The energy Dustin Lynch left the SunFest crowd with last night clearly carried over into the final day of the festival. Despite the sunny skies ramping the temperatures even higher today, the crowds were noticeably larger in anticipation for the Day 4 final line up of James Barker Band, Midland and the Chief, Eric Church. For some, music is a religious experience and how fitting it was to be going to Church on Sunday.
