The Glorious Sons Take Care Of Some Unfinished Business
Feb 28th was the date of the last show The Glorious Sons performed in Columbus, Ohio at The Newport Music Hall in 2020. It seems so long ago in the Before Times or B.C. – Before Covid. We had no idea that soon the entire music industry would shut down, and with it, The Glorious Sons A War On Everything Tour would come to a crashing halt with all of their remaining Canadian dates from March 12th on cancelled.
The Day the Music Died
Let’s talk about the last 24 hours for a minute. Yesterday morning I came to work, as I do every day. For the most part I was expecting a relatively normal day knowing that by the late afternoon our coverage of events at the JUNO Awards in Saskatoon would be needing my attention. But at 9:30am something happened that would lead to the largest cascading cancellation event I have ever experienced in all my years in this industry.

Glorious Sons, Not Just White Noise In Belleville!
Last Friday night was the last show of the Empire Rockfest Series for this year. The Glorious Sons, from Kingston, Ontario rolled in to perform their third year in a row. This marked the first time they have headlined, and it was a sold out show to boot!
Arkells Dominate K-Rock Centre Like Modern Day Pop Icons
Now I have to admit, while I like the Arkells, I never jumped on the buzz-worthy bandwagon that a lot of my peers seem to have. Arkells are solid. They bring energy to every show. They even get political sometimes, and their “Ode to the Whistleblower” is a pretty powerful tune. And much like Glorious Sons (who are coming to the K-Rock Centre in February 2018), the commercial radio/university campus buzz/Canadian indie support for them is not only noticeable but frankly hard to miss.
The Glorious Sons Are #1 At Alternative Radio, Announce Hometown Arena Show
Off the heels of a completely sold out Canadian Tour, Juno-nominated alternative rock band, The Glorious Sons, announce their homecoming show at the Rogers K-Rock Centre February 24, 2018. The band sold out all 19 dates of their cross-country tour including four nights at The Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. The Glorious Sons have been touring in support of their recently-released sophomore album Young Beauties And Fools which came out October 13 through Blackbox/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The album features the anthemic single “Everything Is Alright” which is just claimed the number one spot at Alternative radio, affirming this band’s place in the alternative world.
Glorious Sons Remind Us That Rock and Roll Never Forgets
Canadian rock music has never been more relevant. The sights and sounds are full and crisp, and the talent pool is deep. Still, once in awhile a music snob like myself gets to head to a concert with a band that I am largely unfamiliar with, in hopes of being wowed. Seldom does this actually happen. Most times, the band (insert name here) brings a lot of energy and a few hook driven choruses to the table, and at about the halfway point I begin to count down to the end of the night.
