Up until a few years ago Country Music and Quebec were two terms that you often didn’t hear together, that is not until organizers of the Festival Country De Lotbinière decided that country music had a place in Quebec as well.

I’ve always had a passion for discovering new artists and helping get their music heard. In the music industry today it’s very difficult for new artists to make their mark and get traction. Since founding Sound Check Entertainment we’ve prided ourselves in seeking out and promoting new artists. Just some of the artists we told you about first, and continue to promote, include Meghan Patrick, Abby Stewart, Cory Marquardt and Midnight Shine to name just a few. Today we’d like to introduce to you Morgan Leigh Garner and Courtney Dashe aka Hadley Park.

Last month the CMAO launched a contest in conjunction with Brett Kissel and Invictus Entertainment that would give a number of lucky Ontario musicians the opportunity to open for Brett on his upcoming ‘Ice, Snow and 30 Below Tour’.  There were easily hundreds, if not thousands of entries from prospective artists itching for the opportunity to perform with Brett. Now we know who it will be….

We will have 3 instalments of Boots and Hearts Images all focusing on individual photographers.  Our 1st instalment is covering the images Mike Highfield captured at Boots & Hearts 2016.

Much of the Sound Check team, myself included, has converged on Burls Creek this weekend for one of the most important events in the history of our organization, Boots and Hearts.

So I have been thinking about this one for awhile and it isn’t easy when you have 35+ artists spanning the course of 4 days of music.   But I have managed to get my The Top 10 Must See Artists at Boots & Hearts this week narrowed down.  These are artists that put on a hell of a show and usually have you begging for more.   

Sometimes I just need to sit back and recall that just 6 summers ago I started Sound Check Entertainment, almost by accident. The traction it received from festivals and events across Ottawa and Ontario almost immediately was mind blowing but nothing compares to the feeling this week as we stage a massive benefit for Fort McMurray in Toronto on Thursday called “Bright Lights, Big Country”.

Wow..

So over the last couple weeks we have been working hand in hand with some of Canada’s leading music industry personel to put together one heck of a night in Toronto in support of the families in Fort McMurray that have lost everything.  Here are the details on what is sure to be a night to remember. 

So our friends over at Boots and hearts have put the line up together for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.   Which night are you most excited for this year?

It has just been announced that Canadian Rock/Pop stars Hedley will headline North Bay Summer in The Park’s Friday night on July 29.
