This year we kicked off summer festival season in southern Ontario once again with none other than Burlington Sound of Music Festival in beautiful Spencer Smith Park on the shores of Lake Ontario. Thankfully we were by the lake because Mother Nature sure brought the heat. If you’ve never been before be sure to check it out next year as the festival celebrates its 40th Anniversary. Throughout the weekend we had the privilege to catch acts such as Tyler Shaw, Scott Helman, Texas King, The Elwins, Royal North, Kongos, See Spot Run, The Pursuit of Happiness and non other than Matthew Good who closed out the festival on Sunday afternoon.

HOT Mid Summer Festival Recap…
So it has been a red hot summer thus far in terms of Festivals we have covered since June 1st. Not just hot shows but the weather has been smokin’ for most of them. I though I might take a shot at a mid summer festival recap and just do a quick review on where we have been so far in this jam filled summer of 2016.
Sound of Music ’16 Wrap Up
Last weekend Burlington, Ontario played host to its annual Sound of Music Festival that takes place in the heart of Burlington. This is Canada’s LARGEST Free music festival and boy does it rock. This year they had the likes of I Mother Earth, July Talk, Jess Moskaluke and Mother Mother to name a few of the artists that performed to the thousands that came to soak up the tunes and the sunshine.
#SOM2016 KICK OFF
So this past weekend marked the start of the Sound of Music Festival with their 2nd Annual Kick Off Party. The weather was hot, the beer was cold and the fans came out to support an amazing day of Rock & Roll.
I Mother Earth & Edwin Rock the Phoenix
So, I didn’t really want to say I Mother Earth with Edwin as my headline because well, I Mother Earth isn’t I Mother Earth without him in my personal opinion. Now that that is out of the way lets talk Reunion show #1 held at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in downtown Toronto on Friday June the 3rd. It was a smokin’ hot night outside and the boys of I Mother Earth only raised the temperature inside to almost boiling as they rocked through a 120 min long set.
The Lad Classic go Hollywood
The Lad Classic are an energetic rock foursome out of the Toronto area and I was able to catch them in Hamilton at This Ain’t Hollywood.
Falling For The Redhill Valleys
The Spice Factory in Hamilton was host to the album release of The Redhill Valleys on Tuesday, and it was completely sold out. There was a buzz of excitement among everyone in attendance, merch and cd’s were flying off of the table before any music even began. The trio of Danielle Beaudin, Chelsea McWilliams and Tim Allard have been polishing their sound for a little while now in the Hamilton/Toronto area and have gathered a lot of interest and anticipation towards their first album release. Well, the wait is over.
