Brockville has become a hotspot for the Canada Day long weekend over the past several years as the 1000 Islands Regatta brings the heart stopping action on the water during the day and as the sun sets all eyes turn to the main stage which has played host to some of Canada’s biggest recording artists including Honeymoon Suite, 54-40, Kim Mitchell and more.
Rockfest Is A Family Affair – A Tribute to My Favourite Punk Rock Dad, Hugh Hart
So Montebello’s Amnesia Rockfest 2017 was amazing! Another great lineup of talent, reaching all corners of the globe, and encompassing a variety of styles. Again another 100,000 or so people descend on this wickedly beautiful little village, and they run amuck. Music is coming from every corner and can be heard for miles. Artists from Germany, Mexico, and all over the United States and Canada take the stage, as dust rises from the dirty boots of thousands of punk rockers and metalheads, and I got to witness it all from a very unique vantage point.
1000 Islands Regatta announces All-Star 2017 Entertainment Lineup
For the last 10 years the 1000 Islands Regatta has been a staple event along the shores of the St. Lawrence River in Brockville. Each year organizers take it up just one more notch when it comes to their entertainment and after last year’s success with Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell organizers promised that 2017 would be even better to celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday and today it was announced that they kept their promise!
Nothing blue about Matt Andersen and Steve Hill’s show in Brockville
It was a fitting way to lead into JUNO week in eastern Ontario as two incredibly talented, and award winning, Canadian musicians, Steve Hill and Matt Andersen, took to the stage at the Brockville Arts Centre on Friday night and boy did they put on a show for the sold-out crowd.
Talking new music and more with Project Mantra
Project Mantra, fronted by our own Leigh Bursey, has had a busy year in 2016. They released their first music video, first album, had a single played on CBC Radio and went on tour. We sat down with Leigh to talk about their year and their plans for the year ahead.
My Top 20 Concert Shots of 2016
This was my first year really getting serious about doing photography. Admittedly the learning curve was huge, but the development and rewards were 100% worth the struggle. From sneaking my camera into shows at the beginning of the year, to working the stage at the CTC by the end, it’s been a wild ride.
Terri Clark returned to Brockville with incredibly intimate show on Wednesday
It’s only been 3 and half years since Terri Clark last sold out the Brockville Arts Centre and last night she managed to pack the venue again only this time with no frills or gimmicks just Terri and her guitars and it couldn’t have been better. (on a side note the venue would not allow photo or video so all photos are from Terri’s tour launch in the spring at Casino Rama)
Kim Mitchell rocks the St. Lawrence to open the 1000 Islands Regatta
The weather was perfect, not too hot but also not too cold. The crowds were there in full force, one thing was clear Brockville came to party and veteran Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell did not disappoint.

S-cape Artist and Keaton heat up The Mansion
Kingston area hip hop performers Keaton and S-Cape Artist took turns stealing the show last Thursday night in Kingston at The Mansion. I know this because I was lucky enough to spend the evening with them, as they and local Brockville band Our Forgotten Memories supported my band Project Mantra at our Kingston CD Release Party.
