Madeline Merlo released her debut album Free Soul, on Friday April 29th. Following her earlier EP release back in 2014, let me tell you, this girl put her heart and soul into this album. From her radio hit “Whatcha Wanna Do About It” and “Honey Jack” to some older hits such as “Sinking like a Stone” and “Alive”.
Hangin’ with Meghan Patrick
It was about a year ago that I witnessed the talent of Meghan Patrick LIVE during Canadian Music Week at the Supermarket. Small intimate show with about 50 ppl in attendance or so. Today, Meghan releases her debut album Grace & Grit through Warner Music Canada. I had a chance to catch up with Meghan earlier this week to chat a bit about the album. Here is that conversation.
Canadian Music Week Must See Shows…
Over the last couple years I have been able to take in a few of the shows that happen during Canadian Music Week. This year is no different. We have plans to take in at least 8 or 9 of the shows happening over the 7 days in May (May 2-8) in various venues across Toronto. Lets start off with a little about CMW.
Jordan McIntosh shows how to Shake the Foundation in Renfrew
Last night the community of Renfrew got together for the fifth annual Shake the Foundation event geared to raise money for the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation. We were thrilled to sponsor this incredible event which this year featured headliners Jordan McIntosh and Sandi Skye.
Dierks Bentley – Somewhere On A Beach
So Dierks Bentley is set to release his new album BLACK in the very near future. His first single is called Somewhere On A Beach, and it is a beauty. Have a look and judge for yourself. Dierks is totally the coolest guy in country and this video is a great follow up to the Drunk On A Plane style video. You stay classy Dierks and we will see ya in August at Boots & Hearts!

Country Music Festivals – Are There Too Many?
So let’s start off with the fact that I LOVE LIVE MUSIC. I love it so much that I, a full grown man, feel completely justified in using shouty capitals when I write about how much I LOVE it. Just ask my wife (who will inevitably be asking me why I didn’t put her name in caps) – I would be at a concert every night if I could (with her by my side of course). I have been contemplating writing this post for a couple weeks now and thought after hearing about another big US Country Music Festival closing up shop this summer it was time to post this one.
Final Canadian Stop Of Blackout Tour Was Lights Out….
Saturday night in London may have been a whiteout with a storm kickin’ around a pile of snow outside but inside Bud Gardens the place was on fire. Brantley Gilbert brought his Blackout tour to town and some of his buddies tagged along for the ride. Brian Davis, Michael Ray and Canaan Smith rounded out one rockin’ night of Country music to the RBC Theatre at Bud Gardens.
Canaan Smith – Hole In A Bottle
So Canaan Smith has likely just crossed the border to perform 3 nights in Ontario, Canada on the Black Out Tour. Here is Canaan’s current single Hole In A Bottle. Crank it up and we sure hope you are making it out to see him this weekend cause we know he sure brings a party! He is also a 2x Alumni from Boots and Hearts.

Chase Rice @ Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver
Chase Rice and the JD & Jesus tour hit the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver this past weekend and the place was ELECTRIC. This was the first time seeing Chase Rice & The Cadillac Three perform. I have covered events at the Commodore in the past but this one seemed to just have a bit more energy to it.
