This is the first in a new weekly series I’m going to call Hendrik’s Monday Musings. Consider it my commentary on all things music related in Ottawa, Canada and beyond.
Unless you count his appearance at the Calgary Stampede in 2012 it’s been 19 long years since Garth Brooks performed on Canadian soil. Hamilton was the first stop to be announced back on the 6th of January and when tickets went on sale a few weeks later there was no question that he would be welcomed back with open arms.
If you didn’t manage to snag one of over 50,000 tickets already sold for Garth Brooks last Friday we have great news. Garth Brooks has added a matinee show on Sunday April 3 at 3pm.

The gates have barely closed on the 2015 Boots and Hearts Music Festival and my thoughts are already turning to the big 5 Year Anniversary in 2016. With so many of Country’s biggest names already having graced the B&H Stages it’s a tough one. But here is my Top 20 list of acts for next year!
It was a great start to the day with the first full day of Ram Rodeo action in the rodeo ring. The stands were full and everyone had a blast. Weather was moving in for the evening but it didn’t seem to deter the fans that were busy streaming into the venue to get a spot close to the stage.
It’s no secret that the city of Ottawa is thirsting for country music lately, with two country music stations and a country heavy line-up at Ottawa Bluesfest, I can’t think of anyone better to kick off a summer of country music in Ottawa than the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan. Living up to his title Luke proved he was more than ready, and able, to quench our thirst.
Many of our readers listen to country music radio, it’s undeniably one of the hottest genres of music today. Country music attracts listeners through songs with memorable lyrics that can often be related to. What many listeners may not realize is that often the artist singing the song is not the person who penned the lyrics.
