Sven Gali’s Unfinished Business

From an extended sound check earlier in the day to a motivated performance, Sven Gali did a smashing job and beat my expectations with a hammer.

Sven Gali caught some attention in the first half of the 1990s including a couple Juno nominations, but vanished from the spotlight shortly afterwards. In my eyes, their return to the stage in 2018 has been a successful first swing at regaining some of that lost popularity from ~25 years ago.

Their performance displayed passion, dedication and a strong desire to time warp into the modern music scene. Their old school, heavy metal sound and presence was impeccable for being in such a small venue as The Brass Monkey, its like they have done this before…

With a new single, “Kill the Lies”, fueling speculation of even more new songs, a growing social following and the nostalgia factor, I think they are off to an amazing start.

There was mention of heading off to Europe after their Canadian dates, then a return to Canada’s music festival circuit next year. So, I am expecting to see there name quite a bit in 2019.
