Stitched Up Heart frontwoman Alecia “Mixi” Demner brought her high energy stage presence and band tonight and delivered a solid unforgettable show at The Brass Monkey in Ottawa, ON CAN.
Kicking off the night was Kaleido from Detroit MI with frontwoman Christina Chriss who, with her large stage presence and strong vocals, left a lasting impression on the ears of anyone listening. Guitars ripping through each song delivering powerful riffs that you can’t get enough of and Chriss running from one end to the other made this show’s high energy contagious. Chriss’ vocals were strong and gritty pulling everything she could out of each note. Named “Best Band in Detroit” by Real Detroit Weekly in both 2013 and 2014, and have won three Detroit Music Awards – “Outstanding Rock/Pop Group” and “Outstanding Rock Recording” in 2015 and “Outstanding Hard Rock Group” in 2017. They’ve also played Van’s Warped Tour, Rockstar Uproar Festival and opened for legends such as Aerosmith, Slash, Sammy Hagar and Ace Frehley of Kiss to name a few. Definitely check them out.
Formed in 2010, Stitched Up Heart is an American Hard Rock and Heavy Metal band that has been hard at work since conception fine tuning and carving our space for themselves in the industry. After the release of their album Never Alone in 2016, songs like “Catch Me When I Fall” and “Never Alone” only add to their popularity and the fan base grew by leaps and bounds. One of their most popular songs, and one they performed tonight, was “Lost – ft. Sully Erna”, who wasn’t in attendance tonight, had the crowd singing along to every word and had the crowd moving along with Mixi’s headbanging.
The songwriting is magnificent. The vocals are strong and complement the soulful lyrics of each song and the band are solid. Stitched Up Heart exploited every moment of their set leaving an powerful impression on everyone within range. So much smoke it was hard to capture a clear photo of the band, tuned down guitars and powerful low bass sound and that moment when the band played the song “Dirty Secrets” from their upcoming album created the perfect environment. There is nothing quite like a great rock show.
Both Kaleido and Stitched Up Heart delivered great performances tonight. Rock music was alive and well tonight.
