On Saturday, November 2, 2024, Soul Asylum, along with Blurry Eyes, played the Beanfield Theater in Montreal as part of their Slowly But Shirley tour. Fresh off their tour with Stone Temple Pilots, which wrapped up on September 15, Soul Asylum wasted no time before launching into their own headlining tour, running from September 26 to November 12. Their Montreal show delivered an electrifying night filled with both classic and new hits, captivating the crowd from start to finish.
Soul Asylum took the stage to The Love Boat Theme and kicked off the night with “Somebody to Shove,” immediately setting an energetic tone. They followed with fan-favorites “Misery” and “Trial by Fire,” a powerful start to the evening. Throughout the evening, the band mixed in tracks from their latest album, with highlights including “The Only Thing I’m Missing,” “High Road,” and “Freak Accident.”
One great thing about Soul Asylum is their extensive catalog, allowing them to dig deep into their older albums. They treated fans to classics like “Bus Named Desire,” “Without a Trace,” and the crowd favorite “Runaway Train.” The setlist flowed seamlessly, with new songs fitting perfectly alongside the band’s older hits.
Frontman Dave Pirner was in his element, delivering raw energy and soul throughout the 19-song set. The concert proved that Soul Asylum is a true headlining band, not just an opening act. They left the crowd wanting more, with everyone leaving on a high note.
