Sam Roberts came to the Calgary Stampede ready for some summer fun … unfortunately the weather outside wasn’t cooperating, so he got the fans inside to help him turn up the heat inside the Big Four Roadhouse.
It’s the only fixed stage venue on the Stampede grounds … meaning it was designed and built to sit ready for concerts 24/7/365 … and the layout, stage, and lighting definitely shows everything was really thought through in development.
Sam tried to cover as much of the oversized stage as he could … limited only by the reach of the microphone and guitar chords. Towards the end of the set, he was jumping so much his pants started to fall down! Whether it was planned or perfectly timed … he was quick to head off stage and regroup for the encore.
The crowd knew he was coming back for an encore because they were chanting for “We’re all in this together”, which is one of the three songs they did end up getting.
Hands up, screaming, and even singing along to his bigger … the crowd just kept eating it up AND surprisingly, where there were a FEW phones up and out, the vast majority of the audience was experiencing the show instead of trying to record it.
In the end, as he’s been known to do, Sam Roberts came off stage and did his best to hug, high five, and pose for photos with as many fans as he could along the pit.
