Montebello, Wednesday May 27, 2020 – The Montebello Rock team is happy to announce a real time virtual simulation edition of Rockfest on the usual dates of the event: June 19-21, 2020. This unique experience will be the first of its kind, a world exclusive.
Using thousands of unreleased hours of footage accumulated for nearly 15 years as well as new filming, this immersive and innovative project will offer festival-goers the chance to relive in real time the unique and chaotic experience of the legendary event : the road trip to Montebello, the arrival at the campground, the party in the small town and the music. Taking place 24 hours a day from the Friday to the Sunday, this virtual edition will feature a total of 50 hours of exclusive content.
Both a nostalgia trip for Rockfest regulars and a discovery for those who never got to attend the festival, the virtual edition developed with Thepointofsale.com will let fans dive into the renowned party vibe of Montebello and get a glimpse of dozens of performances. Over the years, the festival has presented artists such as System of a Down, Blink-182, Rammstein, Linkin Park, Motley Crue, The Offspring, Deftones, Korn, Limp Bizkit, NOFX, Pennywise, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and hundreds more.
“While respecting social distancing measures, festival-goers can invite their event buddies in their backyard, bring out the TV, the BBQ, tents and beer! This will be our way of celebrating together this year, while also supporting the festival so we can come back stronger in 2021.” –Alex Martel, founder
Tickets will go on sale this Thursday at noon at affordable prices : $34.99 + tax for the weekend pass or $19.99 + tax for a daily ticket. VIP packages and merchandise will also be available. In an effort to keep the experience exclusive, the number of tickets will be limited on a first come first serve basis.
Known for having founded Rockfest in 2005, then 17-year-old Alex Martel quickly put together the largest rock festival in Canada, welcoming thousands of music fans from around the world to his small hometown of Montebello, Quebec with a population of 900. After 10 years at the head of the festival, he became a minority partner in 2016 while remaining its spokesperson and talent buyer for subsequent editions. Montebello Rock was launched in 2019 by Alex and his long-time team in order to preserve the tradition of the legendary event, with a back to the roots edition taking place last June. The 2020 edition that was originally planned will be pushed back to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
