On Friday night Canadian rock legend Randy Bachman along with special guests Whitehorse
and Kelly Prescott and special appearances by Terra Lightfoot, and Dallas & Travis Good came to TD Place in Ottawa to Rock for Public Services.
Kelly Prescott
Ottawa’s homegrown Kelly Prescott, started the crowd, and start them she did!! The daughter of Tracey Brown and Randall Prescott had the crowd on, and stomping their feet. Prescott performed with her dad, making for an incredible family connection which really came across in her performance.
As her final song (but not for the night) she performed “The Auctioneer” written by her grandfather Joe Brown.. (or affectionately called Papa Joe) a song she pulled off to the delight of the crowd.
Whitehorse
The night was just getting started as Whitehorse, A Canadian folk rock band composed of husband-and-wife duo Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland, had a great time on stage and with the crowd as they belted out their songs “Devil’s got a Gun” and “Sweet Disaster ” and “Baby what’s Wrong” just to name a few.
Randy Bachman
Then, the one and only, Randy Bachman from The Guess Who, and Bachman Turner Overdrive, too the fans back in time, telling the stories of how a song came to be. He opened the show with “taking care of business” and everyone was on their feet, singing along. Also with songs like “American Women”, “Not Time”, “These eyes” and more. Even the Simpsons got in on the action along with videos of The Guess Who in the back ground. He then invited Terra Lightfoot, who rocked the place with her guitar and voice. The energy kept getting more when he brought all the entertainers back on stage for a group (and full house) sing along.
This Free show put on by CUPE (Canadian Union for Public Employees) for the people who work in public service in Ottawa, once again did not disappoint.
It’s been a busy month at TD Place and Canadian pop-rockers Marianas Trench cap it off this coming weekend as they bring their Last Crusade Tour to TD Place with Shawn Hook. Visit www.tdplace.ca for full details and ticket availability.
