The W50 Group is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the original 1969 Woodstock Music Festival north of the border in Ottawa’s Lansdowne Park and TD Place, August 9-11, 2019. The three-day music experience will recreate the retro look and feel of Woodstock from 50 years ago and feature a line-up of some of the best original and tribute bands.
David Clayton-Thomas, Hall of Fame Canadian singer-songwriter, and multiple Grammy award winner, will be headlining the musical line-up for Nordstock. David also headlined at Woodstock in 1969 with his legendary band Blood Sweat and Tears. Nordstock will also feature the best tribute bands of the iconic 1969 line up of artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Janice Joplin and The Who.
John Fenton, Director of Talent Acquisition, said, “We know the line-up is key to the success of any music festival so we’re bringing in the best tribute talent. We’re also negotiating with some original artists so stay tuned for news on that.”
“We are thrilled to be Canada’s celebration headquarters for the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock,” said Larry Johnson, Managing Partner of the W50 Group. “We are recreating the Woodstock experience and so we’re encouraging our festies to come dressed up like hippies.”
Timothy Laflamme, Executive Director of Operations and Finance, said: “We’ve been organizing and planning this festival for over a year. It’s been challenging but fun to pull the various pieces together, working with the City of Ottawa, TD Place, Jeff Hunt, Lansdowne Park, artists, sponsors, volunteers, subcontractors and social media specialists.”
“I was blown away by the concept of a 50th anniversary Woodstock North Music Festival and the calibre of the W50 Group team,” said Jeff Hunt, an Ottawa entrepreneur, partner in the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG), and partner in the W50 Group. “Woodstock is the most famous rock music festival ever staged and the opportunity to recreate it for a new generation of music fans at Lansdowne is a real privilege.”
“We are excited to continue to build Lansdowne’s presence in the music community,” commented Mark Goudie, CEO of OSEG, the operator of Lansdowne Park and TD Place. “Throughout the festival season, Lansdowne offers an experience for all types of music aficionados, so we’re proud to welcome the Nordstock Music Festival this coming August.”
