With so many great festivals that happen every summer in Montreal, why not start things off early this year, in May perhaps? Montreal’s newest festival Metro Metro is billed as an Urban Music Festival featuring a lineup full of current and past hip hop artists such as Cardi B and Snoop Dogg. The two-day festival will take place over the May 18-19 weekend.
Headlining the inaugural year is Cardi B, fresh off a Grammy award for best rap album for her 2018 release Invasion of Privacy. The second headliner is Future who also just took home a Grammy for best rap performance for his part in the song ‘King’s Dead’ with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and James Blake.
Who else but Snoop Dogg is next in the lineup, with his impressive catalogue of hits such as ‘Gin and Juice,’ ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ and ‘Young, Wild and Free.’
A throwback to the mid-2000s, Sean Paul and Ludacris join the bill as two artists who have had massive success with songs such as ‘Temperature’ and ‘Get Back’. Current mumble rap star Juice Wrld who broke out in the scene with his hit ‘Lucid Dreams’ will be there, along with Rich the Kid. New York’s ASAP Ferg will bring the heavy, energetic show that he’s been known for since his 2013 album Trap Lord.
The list continues with other notables being Tyga, Waka Flocka Flame, Fatman Scoop, Cadence Weapom, and many more. There are still several names to be announced, so stay tuned for updates!
For the first year of Metro Metro, the organizers have released a strong lineup which will lead to a great weekend of shows at Parc Olympique in Montreal. Tickets are available this Thursday, February 20 here.
