Billy Talent and Rise Against rocked TD place last night in Ottawa after a long-awaited return to live music. The venue was packed, and the crowd was in full rock party mode. This is some of the first live music we have had in a while so needless to say it was going to be a crazy night. The people were lined up for what seemed like forever and parking was absolutely nuts so much so I had to park what seemed like miles away!
NOBRO from Montreal opened the night and got the crowd in the right frame of mind. They commanded that stage and took every moment they can. Hailing from Montreal, the band brings the classic punk rock feel to their music which reminds you of the classics like the Ramones.
Billy Talent and Rise Against are sharing this tour and have toured together in the past so they are more than familiar with each other. Ottawa has been graced with these guys several times in the past but being one of the first shows back is fitting. Rise Against played some crowd favs as well as hit the crowd with some tracks from their newest album which killed it with the crowd. They ended out their set with Saviour which is always a huge crowd fav and can I just say that Tim sure is exciting to watch perform live swinging that mic over his head and just leaving it all out there.
When Billy Talent hit the stage, the crowd exploded and everyone was dancing and singing a long. Playing to the crowd and rocking out just like we know Bill Talent can be a great end to the night. It was great to see the venue packed and live music finally come home. One of the cool things was how they set up the stage with lights and the tour videos. In all honesty that might just be me being excited and trying to take in every detail out there and probably missing half of them. Seeing friends was great, listening to music was amazing and getting out of the house was perfect.
