Bronx rapper Lil Tjay performed at Ottawa’s TD Place for the second Canadian stop on his ‘Beat The Odds Tour’.
This world tour comes right after the release of a highly anticipated new album ‘222’ in July. The rapper describes the album as a journey about a survival after he survived a traumatic shooting in June last year, which left him fighting for his life. The TD Place audience was lined up all the way around the arena way before the doors opened, and consisted mainly of teens and young adults. Some restlessness was seen in the crowd in the anticipation of Lil Tjay taking the stage, and once he took the stage, the audience erupted into massive cheers. Everybody in the crowd seemed to know the lyrics to all the songs, and sang along with the rapper all throughout the 30 song set.
Taking the stage before the headliner was Toronto rapper Killy, who to his fans delight, jumped off stage multiple times to stand on the barricade to engage his audience. Killy’s latest EP ‘KILLSTREAK 3’ was just released mid-September and is available to stream on all platforms. The pleasant surprise of the night was the opener, African-born, Ottawa-based rapper Jev, who hopped on stage to open the show. His free flowing, tongue twisting lyrics, and captive presence was exactly what we needed to get the party started.
If you want to check out his work, we highly recommend starting with his single ‘Lonrwrld’ (Freestyle).
