On September 4th the Raise Vibration Tour rolled into Toronto and Toronto was ready! This was one of only three Canadian dates on this tour.

Lenny Kravitz’ debut album was released in 1989. It contained a pair of hits, “Let Love Rule” and “Mr. Cab Driver”. He had a sound of his own which was new and fresh and it drew fans in right from the start. He has since released ten more albums, the newest being 2018’s Raise Vibration.

The show started fashionably late but no one seemed to care. When the lights dimmed, the crowd immediately stood and remained standing for the duration of the show. Kravitz kicked the night off with “We Can’t Get It All Together” and “Fly Away” and the crowd went crazy. My personal favourite of the night was “American Woman”, the Guess Who cover that Lenny breathed new life into a decade ago. All the hits were there, the songs that have made him the household name he has become, but he also gave us a good mix of other more laid back songs as well.

Part way through the show, Kravitz mentioned that he felt we, as a society have come to rely on technology too much and offered his advice, “Y’all should put your phones and your cameras away and enjoy the moment”. Surprisingly, people responded and most of the visible phones began to disappear.

The encore consisted of “Here To Love” and “Let Love Rule” and what a choice to finish off the night as the message from Lenny was that in this complicated world, we need to make the changes with love.
