James Gang and Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh was honored with a street renaming ceremony in Columbus Ohio – changing Nationwide Blvd at Front St. to “Joe Walsh Way.”
Columbus, Ohio Mayor Andrew J. Ginther also proclaimed today Joe Walsh Day. Other speakers included City Council Member Shannon Hardin and Columbus Music Commission’s Bruce Garfield.
Joe Walsh spoke of his fond memories living in Columbus,Ohio, getting his first guitar at the age of 10 and the big influence of a DJ named Dr Bob at WCOL who played all the hits in the pre-1960’s era of rock and roll music.
He also spoke about his Army Air Force Father who was killed during flight maneuvers when Joe was very young. This is why he has such a great concern for Veterans.
The VetsAid concert on Sunday at Nationwide Arena features musicians/bands with an Ohio connection – James Gang, Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails, The Black Keys and The Breeders.
All the net proceeds from this concert will go directly to Veterans Services. Tickets are still available for this special event.
