March 28th, Jim Cuddy brought his band to the Grand Theatre in Kingston on their Constellation Tour. We know Jim as one of the founding members and creative forces behind Blue Rodeo, but he doesn’t sit idle between Blue Rodeo projects. Jim’s style of storytelling in his music makes him one of Canada’s best known songwriters. Constellation is Jim’s fourth solo album and many of the songs were introduced early in the concert. The title track is about a friend of Jim’s who passed away recently. It deals with some of the more sobering aspects of life, such as our own mortality.
Over a 35 year career as a singer songwriter, Jim has carved himself out an important place in Canadian music history. He is a member of the Order of Canada , a member of The Canadian Music Hall of Fame, has a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame and has several Juno awards including the 2018 Musicounts Inspired Minds Ambassador Award awarded just last month in Vancouver. Very impressive credentials indeed.
The Jim Cuddy Band is made up of Blue Rodeo band mates, Bazil Donovan on Bass and Colin Cripps on guitar along with violinist Anne Lindsay, Steve O’Conner on keyboards and Joel Anderson on drums. Jim has brought his two sons, Devin Cuddy and Sam Polley on the road with him and they play onstage with their father for part of the show, the musical talent in the family doesn’t stop with Jim. Devon and Sam both have their own bands but are enjoying playing with their father on this tour.

The tour continues on Thursday with a stop at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa before heading to Montreal for a pair of shows at the Corona Theatre and then wraps up, after a short break, at the Deer Lake Strawberry Festival in Deer Lake, NL on July 21. For tickets visit tour.jimcuddy.com
