It might have been cold outside but inside the Dow’s Lake Pavilion at the Ice Dragon Boat Festival the musical talents were the perfect remedy to warm you up. The perfect location for an up-close-and-personal venue of great music. This event seems to get more and more popular year after year. Once again Ottawa nailed it.
The 2018 Ottawa Ice Dragon Boat Festival brought out a diverse group of musical talent to Largo Bar and Grill at Dow’s Lake Pavilion. The line up consisted of The Lionyls who’s Motown covers like “My Girl” and “Lets Get It On” to top 40 hits like “Get Lucky” and “Cheer Leader” had all ages up dancing. These guys consistently wow fans time and time again with their unique style and sound.
We were also treated to the soothing sounds of Twin Flames who shared stories of celebrating life, positivity and peace through song in their native language. There songs were deep and meaningful and had the audience attention. A wonderful performance I’m glad I was able to witness.
Amos The Transparent took to the stage with their Indie folk rock sound performing many of their original songs from their catalog of music. Watching each member performing you can just see the emotions and energy flowing outward and onto the crowd. Focused and determined their sweet sound was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
The evenings performance of Rory Taillon had the crowds attention with his powerful vocals that could be compared to that of Jeff Martin and a hint of the late Michael Hutchinson. He’s truly a one man band. Playing guitar, singing and using a looper/phaser pedal that had you not seen it for yourself would have thought the stage was full. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
Last but not least was the Julian Taylor Band who confidently performed songs varying from soul, folk to rock genres which definitely entertained us all. His unique sound and performance instantly grabs your attention and keeps you waiting to hear more. A real crowd pleaser and the perfect way to end an evening of outstanding entertainment.
