Looking outside of North American acts, there are plenty of international metal bands that fans will not want to miss. From France, Gojira are one of metals best at the moment, and will no doubt be a show to remember with their technical riffing and musicality. Norweigan black metal specialists Emperor will be in attendance, to provide one of the heaviest sets of the festival. Scottish heavy metal pirates Alestorm are also back, and when we say pirates we mean literally, as the band only sings about pirate-y things, such as setting sail on sea voyages, gold, and rum.

Underoath, legends in the post-hardcore scene, will take to the stage with original member Aaron Gillespie following a reunion in 2015. A couple of great acts with strong female leads in Montreal’s own The Agonist and Ukrainian group Jinjer will give a heavy dose of metal to fans.

A band that took a page out of 80’s thrash metal and somehow made it heavier, Power Trip will be returning to Montreal. After getting back together to do shows in 2015, Granby band Blind Witness will be back in town to start moshpits and melt faces.

A new direction this year includes two rap acts, Tech N9ne and Hollywood Undead. Tech N9ne is one of the quickest rappers from a technical standpoint in the game, and Hollywood Undead combine rap-rock from the late 90’s with a new twist.

Passes go on sale this Friday, February 23 at noon. For full details visit www.heavymontreal.com
