Canadian-American Jordan Edward Benjamin is the singer, songwriter and musician known as grandson, currently on the road for his “Death Of A Tour 2022”.
A little background info – grandson released his major label debut EP, A Modern Tragedy Vol. 1, in 2018 with Fueled By Ramen, and released the follow-up A Modern Tragedy Vol. 2 in 2019. In December of 2020, he released his debut studio album Death Of An Optimist.
The stop in Columbus, Ohio at The Newport Music Hall was nearly sold out, with the line to enter the venue at least a block and a half long. One of the opening acts bowed out due to illness so Royal & the Serpent went on early and really ramped up the energy in the venue. The crowd totally enjoyed her set! Check out the review and pics HERE.
Grandson fans, affectionately know as “grandkids,” are die-hard, diverse and totally over-the-top ecstatic during his concerts. The crowd at The Newport was a wonderful all-ages mix of humanity coming together to celebrate being together with music and love. As grandson noted, if it wasn’t for the pandemic, “We could’ve been doing this for two years!” And THIS is what everyone came for – to be seen, to be heard, and to be authentically themselves, singing, dancing and getting flat out wild with grandson leading the way.
One lucky kid was chosen out of the crowd to come up on stage and be recognized as attending their first concert. Of course, the crowd cheered and the kid reveled in the moment. Grandson has a great connection with his fans and if he wants them to sing along, they do so with conviction and joy.
All around it was a high energy show to the very end. If you’ve never seen grandson in concert, make a note to definitely catch him live. Highly recommended!
