Like the weather, SunFest Day 3 was a scorcher. As the temperatures rose the festival goers avoided the heat and preserved their energy for the night to come featuring Meghan Patrick, Brett Young and headliner Dustin Lynch.
If the West Coast crowd didn’t know who Meghan Patrick was that didn’t matter as she connected with the crowd over her song dedicated to George Strait and a cover of Dolly Parton’s Jolene. Meghan also graced the crowd with her new music which as she put it she had something for everyone, from the heart breaker to the broken hearted. I’m sure the festival goers will be searching for her new music in the coming days.
Incense wafted from the stage as the sun began to set and temperatures cooled, Brett Young took the stage for a mellow and emotion filled set. With his own songs like Mercy and In Case You Didn’t Know as well as the addition of an acoustic set featuring the late Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, Brett ushered the crowd into the evening. As dusk set in, festival goers started to gain their energy and slowly filled the grounds as Brett shared his new single Here Tonight which we are sure will be a hit.
Incense was no longer the smell wafting from the stage as the energy ramped up from the crowd belting out Maren Morris waiting for headliner Dustin Lynch to take the mainstage. His impressive lights and graphics initially entranced the crowd but that was nothing compared to his energy and presence as he stormed the stage. Dustin was the ultimate showman in his Canadian tuxedo wooing the ladies and reminding us all he is single before moving into his song Good Girl. In true showman and gentleman fashion he also insured one concert goer, his neighbour Jake, did not go thirsty as crowd surfaced beer after beer to ensure he was never dry.
Dustin played everything from his classics like She Cranks My Tractor and Mind Reader to new music like Seein’ Red and I’d be Jealous Too. He even stepped outside of his genre to sample Canadian artist Drake’s God Plan and later Blink-182’s All The Small Things. By the end of his set Dustin had restored the crowd’s energy to carry them through the cooling night and into SunFest’s final day, Day 4.
Temperatures will climb along with expected attendance for Day 4 in anticipation for James Barker Band, Midland and headliner Eric Church.
