Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre was jammed to the roof Wednesday night for the highly anticipated return of Celine Dion and her Courage World Tour.
With a grand stage set up, the C.T.C. was a buzz waiting for Canadian Icon to arrive. As the lights went dark the building went nuts. The large video screens showed Dion sitting in front of a vanity doing her makeup and getting prepared for the show. Wide screenshots of her eyes and bright lights flashing back and forth on the screen created an intense atmosphere until finally, she rose on a riser from the bottom of the stage.
Belting out the first few notes of “It’s all Coming back to Me Now” Dion paused and was greeted to an immediate standing ovation. Dion looked overwhelmed with emotion from the love and support she was receiving from her fans.
The Courage World tour may have gotten off to a rocky start due to Dion contracting a throat virus, but I would say that is well on its way to being a thing of the past. Partway through her set, Dion told of how she is struggling a bit right now with her voice, and that she is not living up to her expectations at being 100% on stage. Normally she would only perform if she was at her best. She then went on to say how much she appreciated the crowd’s love and energy, and that she was feeding off of it. As they say in show biz the show must go on.
