Year 9 and Cavendish Beach Music Festival is Stronger Than Ever
Day 1 of CBMF (Cavendish Beach Music Festival) started with a typical beautiful day on PEI. A gentle breeze cooled down the air a bit which was most welcome at the concert. You could literally feel the excitement of the fans even walking in from the parking lot. You KNOW it is going to be a great show when that happens. The grounds were alive with fans which was great to see earlier on in the day. There were over 20 acts in total and unfortunately we could not take them all in. Here are a few shots of performances we were able to get to.
FIRST UP- Kitchen Stage- Endless Summer
This is a high energy band made up of two brothers- (Clint and Bob Moffatt). They are hometown BC boys that came to rock the kitchen stage at CBMF- Atlantic Canada’s largest outdoor festival.
From there we rushed down to the MAIN STAGE where Gord Bamford was getting ready to hit the stage. The fans were ready and he was ready to put on a show for them. They sang along and cheered to each an every song. It is not hard to see why he is a repeat performer at CBMF and I would not be surprised to see him there again.
Another rush back to the Kitchen stage as we did not want to miss The Good Brothers. In 2004 The Good Brothers were honoured by being inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. I have never been to one of their concerts and was more than impressed with the show. They came out fast and never looked back.
And back to the MAIN STAGE again to see the anticipated HIGH VALLEY. The fans were electric and it didn’t take long to see that they were definitely a fan favourite. They sang along and cheered the whole performance. A dance competition led to some great dance moves in the crowd. High Valley has graced the stage at CBMF before but earlier in the day. They are back again and next time I would not be surprised if they were the headliner for the night and rightfully so! For me it was the performance of the day!
Little Big Town closed out the night on the MAIN STAGE. The stage lighting was out of this world and so was the performance. Unfortunately, we were not allowed in the pit for this performances so the images are not as sharp. The Front of the House pit is a considerable distance from the stage and without an exceptional zoom lens we could not get the images we had hoped for. Little Big Town has headlined at CBMF before and with this performance it was not hard to see why they were invited back for a repeat performance. It was hit song after hit song all night long!
