Musicians Unite for Ovation, the Biggest Crowdfunding Campaign to Reignite the Ottawa Music Scene
OTTAWA – Tuesday, July 6, 2021: Ovation Ottawa, the biggest crowdfunding campaign to hit the local music scene, is set to launch this Thursday, July 8th. It will run every Thursday evening until Sept 2, 2021 and features over 40 local musicians, plus internationally acclaimed, 2x JUNO Award winning family entertainer, singer/songwriter, composer, actor, writer, author, TV host and keynote speaker – Fred Penner! Every Thursday evening, audiences are invited to join local musicians on their social media platforms who will be treated to their live streamed concerts.

DRAKE JENSEN, Nova Scotian and acclaimed Nashville recording artist, releases a cover of Corey Hart’s iconic hit “Never Surrender” in a compelling duet with Ottawa artist Lisa Thompson of the band Sovereign Council. The release is accompanied by an equally compelling video; both are dedicated to the front-line workers that helped the world through this challenging year.

As we close out pride month we felt it would be appropriate to feature the latest music from our friend, and client, Drake Jensen. We were introduced to Ottawa based country artist Drake Jensen through one of our photographers and started working with Drake to help promote the release of his latest single “Burn The Floor”. Drake has been receiving praise from around the world for the video that accompanies the single critics calling it a pure celebration of queer identity. Billboard Magazine said “If you thought that modern country and queer clubbing don’t go together, you thought wrong. In his new video for “Burn the Floor,” Canadian country singer Drake Jensen chooses a seemingly typical country bar as the backdrop to his country-twinged song, but with various members of the LGBTQ club community taking over to have the night of their lives and, yes, “Burn the Floor.”

These three women are our finalists for the 2020 Sing Out for CHEO Emerging Artist competition.
